Web on the Go

My cell phone and the mobile web definitely lose, at least in the respect that my phone doesn’t have that feature turned on, and the screen is so mind numbingly dinky that the very thought of reading text let alone viewing images or video in teeny weenie eye squint-o-vision brings my retinas pain. My cell phone deliberately lacks features. I bought the thing when I lost my Nokia with its black and white liquid crystal display, which had a powerful back light feature for cell phone use at night. Actually that first cell phone had a textual web browser in it. I activated it once to see what it was like and promptly swore off of using it ever again as it was a major pain to navigate and read.
The cell phone I use now is used for calling, the very occasional text message, a clock, and sometimes a flashlight. Every other feature on it simply isn’t convenient or functional enough to use. What I would like my phone to do is be my iPod Touch. Something user friendly with easily changeable programs that looks nice and maintains at least a bare minimum of features including email, mobile web, and a calendar. I think part of the problem of using a standard phone with all sorts of new features is that they are limited by their keypad.
QWERTY is a necessity in order for me to type in any sort of understandable format besides speaking in license plate-eese (DO U H8 THS?) and nice to have for other functions where typing is needed. I think the ideal interface is possibly the dynamic one that the iPod Touch provides, different programs can place buttons as needed.
