Multimedia
What is Multimedia?
Multimedia is just what it's name implies, many media. I have skills working with content through a variety of mediums and have learned the rules of good design to be productively useful to any of them. Web design is one format in which all of these media can come together and compliment each other. Images can blend with flash animation. Text can lead to video. Good design, functionality, and accessibility are what it is all about and that's where I come in. Today's web site needs to be more than black and white text on a page to transmit an idea. It should have content over different media that work together in order to strengthen it's message.
My Skills
Web
I am skilled in W3C compliant HTML and CSS. I enjoy working with Dreamweaver, but am by no means limited by it. I am able to create and design a web site from scratch with little more than a text editor and a web browser. While its good to have coding software, without the ability to really dig into your HTML to discover what it is doing you may as well be trying to tell someone how to build a house over the telephone. I am a strong supporter of semantic HTML and standardization and it's ability to tame an otherwise untamed internet. I am capable of setting up and operating in Javascript as well as PHP. Please visit my gallery for other web sites that I have designed.
Adobe Flash
Flash is a tremendously flexible application. From simple short animations, to heavily integrated interactivity, and even applications and games. I am able to do many things with Flash, such as animate the header for this web page, or more complex things like a Flash navigation, Flash games, or even simple flash applications. While Flash adds a lot of whizzbang to a web site, it is always important to keep functionality simple and easy, and keep good design even when users don't have Flash installed or Javascript active. I am especially proud of my abilities to underlay functional and stylized content and usability beneath Flash, just in case.
